Learn How to Play the Piano! (Group Lessons)

Saturdays from March 6th to March 27th
Playing piano helps with concentration, builds confidence, instills creativity, develops eye/hand coordination, right/left brain interaction, listening skills, finger skills and multi-tasking. Concepts of melody, rhythm, harmony, tone colour, and dynamics are taught through listening and notation activies. Students will learn how to read notes, write their own music, how to improvise, learn about their instrument's registration properties, as well as establish finger coordination and listening skills. With 10 or less students in each class, there are more opportunities for individual and ensemble experiences.This is a 6 week progressive course with each class lasting 50 minutes.

Students must bring their own lightweight portable electric keyboard. Val's Music in the Meadville Mall, 900 Water Street has new quality merchandise at a very reasonable price.

COOTIE HARRIS SCHOOL OF TAI CHI

Sunday and Thursday Evenings from 7-9 PM
The Cootie Harris School of Tai Chi is affiliated with the Meadville Council on the Arts. After years of involvement in several martial arts, Cootie founded this school over twenty-five years ago. New students are welcome any time there are openings. Classes are Thursday evening and Sunday evening from 7-9 PM. Standard fee is $40 a month, with a reduced rate for members of the Council on the Arts.
More information is available, and can be found in the brochure rack at The Meadville Council on the Arts, located beside the first Gallery door on the 2nd floor of the Market House. There are also brochures in the racks downstairs as well.
SIMPLY SATURDAY ART CLASSES
Come and relax with a cup of coffee and enjoy a series of adult workshops on Saturdays.
Classes will be during the months of April and May from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM. Each
participant is asked to provide their own “brown bag” lunch.
